Some close points of interest

dia_bluve.gifdia_bluve.gifdia_bluve.gif The nearest point of interest, in El Alamillo, is an Archeological Roman's space with a manufacture of garum (concentrated and rich in protein fish juice). This garum was useful for navigators who often left Cartagena.

dia_bluve.gifdia_bluve.gifdia_bluve.gif An impressive statue dominates Puerto de Mazarrón : "El Corazón de Jesus". An inn, near the Christ, offers appreciable comfort after climbing.

dia_bluve.gifdia_bluve.gifdia_bluve.gif The market of Mazarrón takes place every Saturday's morning.

dia_bluve.gifdia_bluve.gifdia_bluve.gif The market of Puerto de Mazarrón (nearby the bus stop) is significant, it takes place every Sunday's morning. Stalls are varied : clothes, musics, shoes, food products, plants...

dia_bluve.gifdia_bluve.gifdia_bluve.gif In Mazarrón, the two churches are typical, and if you have time, in the room of the Town Hall (old Casino), you may admire the bottom of the room with its cast iron columns style Art "nouveau", as well as the decorated ceiling (see photo). Another room even more impressive is on the higher floor.

dia_bluve.gifdia_bluve.gifdia_bluve.gif In Mazarron, in february, you can go and see the goldfinch show with birdsongs :

dia_bluve.gifdia_bluve.gifdia_bluve.gif There are a lot of beaches and splits, sandy or shingly beaches, large or small. You have the option to participate in sports if you wish (when temperature allows it) : scuba diving, fishing, surfing (you can practice it near El Alamillo in front of the five buildings named "Rosas del Viento", a wave allows trainings, but other spots exist).

As soon as you find a cliff, you also can look for sea urchins and can enjoy their delicate sweetened and iodized taste.

There are many nude beaches on the "Costa Virgen", in Sud of Bolnuevo.

Windsurfing is also enjoyed in favorite places (Isla Plana).

dia_bluve.gifdia_bluve.gifdia_bluve.gif Do not forget to have a look at natural geological formations " the mushrooms of Bolnuevo ", carved by wind, marine spray and sun... Surrounding hills also offer varied landscapes which depend on the nature of the ground. Iron, ochre and tin mines have been abandoned.

dia_bluve.gifdia_bluve.gifdia_bluve.gif If you are wishing for futuristic exoticism : go and visit the 2 golf courses along the road of Murcia. In " Camposol " where many English people live, the golf course is almost completed. Fantastic constructions seem to be unreal with villas (frequently with their private swimming pool) because not long ago, the hills around were desert. You will appreciate the English mini-market where you can find all your usual food.

In the other golf course, a large alley bordered with white statues of Minerves is strange when you think that at the beginning of year 2000, there were only : spart, rosemary and desert plants.

dia_bluve.gifdia_bluve.gifdia_bluve.gif Just before " Camposol ", while going to Murcia, on the left, take the small stony way near a little white church.

Another way to go to the geothermal source : take the small way from the purification of water of Camposol, in the direction of a big iron column.

Going along the track, you arrive at a geothermal source of hot (48 degrees) water . This source flows into 3 small basins where you can be 3, 4 persons or more. In the basin, water is approximately at 42 degrees. Remain only from 5 to 6 minutes and enter very carefully.

2007 : Works of constructions... Now, the source flows into only one basin :

dia_bluve.gifdia_bluve.gifdia_bluve.gif Do not forget to visit the tomatoes, pomegranate, citrus fruits fields and vines (grapes of table). Workers in these fields use to come from Equator. Do you know that tomato flowers are fertilized by small bumblebees which are imported by plane at the proper time !

dia_bluve.gifdia_bluve.gifdia_bluve.gif Other visits may be recommended : " Tuna factory " of Mendez which made a lot for development of Mazarrón, as well as the palm plantation, olive grove " San Miguel " where you can find good olive oil obtained by centrifugation with its well-known qualities.

NB : All these outings and others can be made by bike if you are in shape. Excursions are varied.

Other points of interest

dia_bluve.gifdia_bluve.gifdia_bluve.gifThey can be visited by car, or by bus if you do not drive.

é Military Fortress of Cabo Tiñoso

dia_bluve.gifdia_bluve.gifdia_bluve.gifThere are many religious celebrations during the year. In November, "fiesta" in honor of the Blessed Virgin :

dia_bluve.gifdia_bluve.gifdia_bluve.gifBullas                                 and              Aledo :

dia_bluve.gifdia_bluve.gifdia_bluve.gif"La Madraba" during may is an activity in Azohia (little fishing port near Isla Plana).

dia_bluve.gifdia_bluve.gifdia_bluve.gifCartagena, 25 kilometers from Mazarrón, is still a typically Spanish city and you can go and see : Roman ruins, the famous theatre. Don’t forget its ancestral port, one of the most significant of Spain where it is possible to admire the first submarine of the world constructed by Isaac Peral.

dia_bluve.gifdia_bluve.gifdia_bluve.gifMurcia, a university town, the “Huerta” which exports fruits and vegetables in Europe, the “Grands Magasins”, Corte ingles,  where you can find what ever you want.

dia_bluve.gifdia_bluve.gifdia_bluve.gifAguilas and its surroundings, Cuevas de Almanzora, and Mojácar, a typical village

Mojácar

dia_bluve.gifdia_bluve.gifdia_bluve.gif“La Manga” along “mar Menor” (translated into English : Minor Sea) which is impressive with its density of buildings constructed on an offshore bar. This intimate Sea with salt water close to the Mediterranean Sea is historically know and visited.

dia_bluve.gifdia_bluve.gifdia_bluve.gifNear Almería,  the marine and terrestrial Park “Cabo de Gata-Nìjar”, with a mediterranean sub-desert type climate, was catalogued by Unesco as World Reserve of the Biosphere.

dia_bluve.gifdia_bluve.gifdia_bluve.gifAnyhow, you will never regret your journey, because the climate of Mazarrón is really ideal and " El Alamillo " is always sunny.
